This could be the one!   We have a great reputation for producing excellent beer, with a number of exciting projects under way aided by our recent expansion onto our new 40-barrel semi-automated brew-kit.   As a result, we have an opportunity for an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual who is passionate about all things beer, and brewing, to join our team full-time, and help bolster our culture of quality, creativity and continuous improvement.  Making Saltaire the best it can be.   To join our team, ideally you will be familiar with all aspects of the commercial brewing process, and have the technical expertise and creativity to help us develop our beer and grow our business. You don’t have to have a brewing qualification but it will help. Of course, full training will be provided.   It’s a demanding job - physically, as well as technically, with a flexible approach to work patterns required when necessary, but highly rewarding, with potential to develop further as our business expands.   Main duties include:
  • Brew beers on our semi-automated 40 bbrl kit, to the established practices and procedures
  • Preparing brewing ingredients
  • Checking and managing fermentations from start to finish

Kala Black IPA – world’s best dark beer

2017 is turning out the be a fabulous year for Kala Black IPA 6.2% as it was awarded the Championship Trophy in the International Dark Beer competition at the 2017 International Brewing Awards last week. This follows its Gold medal category win awarded in March and makes it the world's best dark beer!

Shaping our future

At the end of last year, we undertook an extensive market research exercise to find out more about what our customers and consumers think of our brand, product and services.   After more than 10 years in the industry, it was very heartening to find out that so many people wanted to take part and share their opinions with us. Much of the feedback, received from 800 participants, reassured us that we produce high quality, tasty and consistent beers. While our team is viewed as professional, friendly and passionate. This is great news! Because it reflects what we have worked hard to establish.   Thank you to everyone who took the time to share their opinions with us. Can a robot pull the perfect pint?

Sam pulls the perfect pint

If you’ve ever wondered what makes a hand-pulled Saltaire pint so good then you’re not the only one. A group of Leeds University robotics students, with an interest in beer, have stepped up to the mark to quantify exactly what goes into pulling one of our pints.   The students have truly challenged themselves, and are trying to build a robot that can pull a pint better than our own Brewery Tap team. They have the support of some engineering specialists to help them measure up, with Quality Bearings backing the students’ capabilities.

  The students recently came to the Brewery to gain a better understanding about hand-pulled cask ale.
